Stellantis is bluffing about Cassino. The accusations from Fim-Cisl.

Stellantis, the Filosa Plan requires investments and employment, while Cassino is in the midst of an "industrial decline" now in its eighth year. The intervention of Fernando Uliano from Fim-Cisl.

Today we demonstrated, together with other trade unions, institutions, and the entire community of Cassino, to denounce an industrial decline that has affected the area for over eight years. A broad and determined participation saw citizens and automotive workers united in defending jobs, with the goal of restoring prospects, dignity, and a future to this territory.

The situation in Cassino is emblematic of what risks happening to the entire automotive sector in Italy and Europe if there is no strong mobilization of awareness and the labor world. This is a symbolic battle for the defense of industry: the economy of our country and Europe cannot rely solely on the defense sector.

The condition of the Stellantis plant in Cassino and its supply chain companies has now exceeded every limit of sustainability. Production, as we have long denounced, is at historic lows: 2025 ended with fewer than 20,000 vehicles produced, while estimates for 2026 stand around 13,000 units. A dramatic collapse considering that only eight years ago 135,263 cars were produced, with over 4,300 employees.

The employment impact has been very heavy: today employment stands at around 2,000 units. Production activity is reduced to about 5-6 working days per month, with about 1,400 workers present, while about 600 are on solidarity contracts. Since the beginning of the year, the plant has been closed for long periods: only 16 working days in total.

This collapse has overwhelmed not only direct workers but the entire supply chain. Collective layoffs have already started in companies such as Logitec, Teknoservice, and Transnova, while in component manufacturing hundreds of workers have long been on redundancy funds. We cannot accept the economic and social impoverishment of this territory: it is necessary to guarantee a future for workers, families, and young people.

The fully electric plan promoted by Tavares has failed in results. The commitments made by Imparato in 2024, at the Ministry of Made in Italy, have been disregarded: no new model was launched in 2025 and there are no certainties for 2026. There is no concrete start date for new productions.

For this reason, in the Filosa Plan – expected on May 21 – it is essential that Stellantis provides clear and verifiable answers: certain timing for the launch of new models, concrete investments, and the immediate activation of all possible levers to anticipate productions, without further delays.

The Cassino plant has great potential. The presence of the Alfa Romeo and Maserati brands represents a real opportunity for revival, which the new industrial plan must decisively enhance. Our goal is to secure the plant, both in terms of employment and industrial prospects. A result that would produce positive effects on the entire supply chain and the whole territory.

If Stellantis considers Cassino a strategic site, as declared in institutional meetings, then it must assign it the highest priority in the Filosa Plan. Immediate guarantees are needed on new models, production assignments, and timing of realization. At the same time, it is necessary to manage the current emergency with concrete short-term interventions capable of supporting production volumes and employment.

Today’s mobilization has a precise goal: to push the group to make new and courageous choices for Cassino, which today represents one of the main employment emergencies in the country. It is also a strong appeal to institutions, starting from the Government to the European Union, to implement adequate industrial policies and dedicated resources.

We have also put forward proposals for other plants, aiming to guarantee an overall vision and secure the entire Stellantis production system in Italy. However, it is evident that a decisive and no longer postponable game is being played in Cassino.
