The Milanese artificial intelligence startup DeepTree has closed a €2 million funding round led by Cdp Venture Capital, the division of Cassa depositi e prestiti (itself controlled by the Ministry of Economy) dedicated to supporting innovative Italian companies.

Cdp Venture Capital drew from the resources of the Digital Transition – Pnrr fund, endowed with €400 million. But the operation – as stated in the press release – also involved several “international strategic private investors” because DeepTree aims to expand in Europe, particularly in the United Kingdom. The capital raised will therefore be used by the startup to acquire new databases and work on its internationalization, as well as to consolidate its position in the Italian market.
DEEPTREE: WHO FOUNDED IT…
DeepTree was founded in Milan in 2014 by the under 30 Lorenzo Ferretti (the CEO) and Claudio Arione (the technical director). Ferretti studied at Bocconi University, while Arione graduated in Computer Science and Engineering at Politecnico di Milano; both attended the Alta Scuola Politecnica created by the Milan and Turin universities.

DeepTree has developed a platform based on artificial intelligence that integrates financial data, corporate information, and analysis of private markets to support and facilitate the search for companies to acquire: it is therefore aimed at operators in the merger & acquisitions sector, such as investment funds and large companies interested in expanding. To date, it counts over one hundred clients.
GOALS FOR 2026
For 2026, the startup aims to double its clients, help them reduce analysis times by 90 percent, and enter the European market. In the second half of the year, it should open an office in London and expand its team from fourteen to twenty employees.
“Replicating in Europe the model developed in Italy is a significant engineering challenge,” said Arione, because “each market has different sources, standards, and data logics, and the goal is to integrate them into a single, coherent architecture.”
