There are pardons and pardons, real and virtual, but no less important or significant. Real like the one granted to Nicole Minetti by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, later tempted to revoke it due to a journalistic investigation which, following his public input, triggered a judicial inquiry with a development and perhaps even an outcome below the media clamor. The virtual pardons are those, somehow related to the presidential one to Minetti, granted or denied by the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio due to the controversies involving him in the clemency granted by Mattarella to the former dental hygienist and friend of the late Silvio Berlusconi.
The Minister of Justice generously pardoned the Rai journalist… investigator Sigfrido Ranucci, who sprinkled himself with out-of-season Lenten ashes for having insinuated, as a guest of colleague Bianca Berlinguer in a Mediaset TV talk show, with a “to be verified” news about his at least embarrassing relations with Minetti and the Venetian companion Giuseppe Cipriani in a South American estate with suspicious acquaintances and customs, to say the least.
Nordio’s pardon to Ranucci, consisting in the renunciation of the lawsuit, was somehow compensatory for the one denied to him by Rai with the refusal of legal coverage. Which would have left the employee alone facing the expenses, which also rhyme, of the lawsuit and the related, expected conviction.
The minister did not pardon Bianca Berlinguer, responsible together with Mediaset for the arbitrary dissemination of false news about him allowed to the guest Ranucci. But the news, at least for a mischievous person of the Andreotti school like me, is not so much in Nordio’s pardon denied to Berlinguer, who stubbornly refused to apologize also incinerating her hair, but in the pardon denied to Mediaset, which will cover its journalist in the lawsuit, that is, paying the foreseeable damages to the minister, as well as legal expenses.
With one stone the Minister of Justice caught two birds, one of which – Mediaset – is definitely more important, significant than the other, since the Berlusconi television has stuck itself, willingly or unwillingly, into a paper and ether war against the government. But, more particularly, against Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni who depends in Parliament on the support of a party – Forza Italia – of which the Berlusconi family now publicly demands a more incisive and courageous action. This is what was said at the end of the sixties also about the center-left edition promised and granted to the socialists by the “Doroteo” secretary of the DC Mariano Rumor to evict Aldo Moro from Palazzo Chigi.
The action – I repeat – more incisive and courageous of Forza Italia could translate, in the naturally undesired and undesirable perspective by Meloni of an electoral tie, into a “strategic repositioning” of the Berlusconi party, and of Tajani, hoped for on Il Riformista by director Claudio Velardi. But, before him, inside the PD by the director of all its internal majorities Dario Franceschini, somehow envious of the “golden action” – as defined by the former minister – unknowingly possessed by Forza Italia in the political market.
