Green light to the union platform for the renewal of the banking contract which will be submitted to the vote of the workers in the assemblies that will be convened in the coming weeks, a fundamental step to start the negotiation for the contract renewal. Fabi, First Cisl, Fisac Cgil, Uilca and Unisin have requested a wage increase of 518 euros per month for the reference figure, and the reduction of the weekly working hours to 35 hours, compared to the current 37, already the result of a reduction obtained with the last renewal. Furthermore, always for the economic part, they ask for meal vouchers to be raised to 10 euros. On classifications, the platform provides for “the expansion of the contractual area and the introduction of certain limits to outsourced activities, to avoid disparities in treatment between workers operating within the same company realities,” the unions explain in a joint statement. Particular attention is paid to issues of work organization and corporate restructuring. (Start Magazine Editorial Staff)
COMMENT BY LANDO MARIA SILEONI, GENERAL SECRETARY OF FABI
The requested economic increases, the contents of the platform, such as the reduction of working hours, reinstatement in cases of unjustified disciplinary dismissal, digital transformation, strengthening of the Employment Fund, aim to provide contractual and economic guarantees to all workers in the sector, but also to the credit institutions themselves.
The requests of this new contract serve to strengthen and maintain the purchasing power of wages in the face of a scenario that will inevitably change in the coming days and months, hopefully for the better, even if everything is going in the opposite direction.
Now the new contract will be submitted to the indisputable and irreplaceable judgment of banking workers who must hold joint assemblies across the territory by July 15.
The ongoing digital changes are being addressed by the unions, jointly, at Abi where a further meeting is scheduled for April 14 on the topic of the steering committee, which will serve to define new tasks, new professional activities and new regulatory and economic classifications for all those activities and professional figures impacted by digitalization.
It is a new contract that will serve to hold together all the components of the sector starting from the political assumption that the unions want the real and expected inflation and a share of productivity justified by the banks’ record profits, 112 billion euros, achieved thanks to the irreplaceable contribution of the sector’s workers, to be recognized.
Compared to the results obtained in the last contract renewal, equal to 435 euros, the increase in our requests, justified by the banks’ profits, is only 1% higher: it was 15% on November 23 and is 16% today.
Now the final judgment will come from the assemblies of banking workers.
